This notice describes gouldcomics.com and the free, browser-only version of Jace’s Story Lab currently available here. Account registration, online manuscript saving, paid creation tools, and publishing through Story Lab are not available yet.

Your writing stays in your browser

The workshop does not send your story answers, title, or pen name to Gould Comics, an online story database, or an AI service. Without device saving, your draft stays in the current page session and may be lost when you reload or close it.

If you select Remember on this device, the workshop saves the draft in your browser’s local storage. It stays there until you clear it or the browser removes its site data. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to open it. Use Clear this story and start fresh in the manuscript view, or clear this website’s data in your browser settings, to remove the saved draft. We cannot retrieve or remotely erase a draft stored only on your device.

Downloading creates a text file on your device. Printing or saving as PDF uses your browser’s print tools and the destination you select. Removing a browser draft does not delete exported files or printed copies.

Website delivery and service providers

Cloudflare hosts and helps deliver and protect this website. Requests to load pages and images involve technical information such as an IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time. This is separate from your manuscript text, which the workshop does not transmit.

The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google to obtain those files, which exposes connection information such as your IP address and browser request details to Google. If you contact us by email, Google Workspace processes that correspondence for our mailbox.

Provider processing and retention are governed by their applicable service terms and privacy information. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy.

Contacting us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever information you choose to include. We use that correspondence to respond and handle your request. Please avoid sending children’s personal details or manuscripts unless they are needed for the request. Contact us to ask about access to or deletion of correspondence you have sent; we may need to verify your authority before responding to a request involving someone else’s information.

For children, parents, and guardians

No account or email address is needed to use the current workshop. Use fictional names or pen names, and keep real names, schools, addresses, and contact details out of stories. A parent or guardian can help manage local drafts and exported files on a shared device.

We will update this notice before introducing account registration or online storage of children’s writing, and provide the applicable parent notices and consent process before enabling those features.

Links to other services

Other websites you choose to visit through a link have their own information practices. This website currently does not accept comic-book payments or collect payment-card information.
